Coarse Bubble Diffusers

Coarse Aeration

The INVENT iCBA® Aeration System is a cutting-edge solution designed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of wastewater treatment processes. Developed by INVENT, a leader in innovative water and wastewater treatment technologies, the iCBA® system is engineered to provide robust and efficient aeration, particularly suited for moving bed reactors and other demanding applications. The system’s design emphasizes durability, ease of installation, and maintenance-free operation, making it an ideal choice for both municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants.

Principle of Operation

The iCBA® Aeration System operates on the principle of coarse bubble aeration, which is essential for effective mixing and oxygen transfer in wastewater treatment. The system comprises several key components that work together to achieve optimal performance:

Key Steps:

Air Distribution

  • Central Air Supply: Air is supplied to the aeration grids via a central air supply pipe located at the bottom of the tank. This pipe distributes air uniformly to the aeration elements.
  • Bottom Distributor: The bottom distributor, made of stainless steel, serves as the base for the aeration elements. It ensures even air distribution across the entire tank.

Coarse Bubble Formation

  • Aeration Elements: The iCBA® aeration elements consist of specially designed stainless-steel hollow bodies with optimized air-exit openings. As air flows through these openings, coarse bubbles are formed.
  • Efficient Mixing: The coarse bubbles rise through the water, creating a mixing effect that enhances oxygen transfer and supports the biological treatment processes.

Oxygen Transfer

  • High Efficiency: The rising coarse bubbles provide efficient oxygen transfer by increasing the surface area for air-water contact. This oxygen is crucial for aerobic microorganisms that decompose organic matter in the wastewater.
  • Robust Performance: The system maintains consistent aeration performance over time, with minimal pressure loss and no clogging, ensuring reliable and effective operation.

Features and Benefits

High Oxygen Transfer Efficiency

The iCBA® system delivers high oxygen transfer efficiency through its coarse bubble aeration mechanism vital for supporting aerobic biological processes

Simple and Quick Installation

The aeration elements are supplied separately from the bottom distributor and fittings, allowing for quick assembly on-site. This simplifies the installation process and reduces setup time.

Energy Efficient

Efficient air distribution and low-pressure loss contribute to reduced operational costs, making the system more sustainable and cost-effective.

Durable Materials

Made from high-grade stainless steel (ASTM 304 or ASTM 316). These materials are selected for their durability, chemical resistance, and long service life, ensuring reliable performance in demanding environments.

Low Maintenance Requirements

The robust design and materials of the iCBA® system minimize fouling resulting in lower maintenance costs and uninterrupted operation, enhancing overall system efficiency.

High Temperature Tolerance

High temperature tolerance ensures consistent performance even under challenging conditions.
